All John Crichton wants is a peaceful life with the woman he loves and their unborn child. Instead he finds himself in the middle of an intergalactic war to end all wars. Two vast superpowers are locked in a brutal struggle, and John has the knowledge they both want at any cost: the means to save - or destroy - the universe.

In a desperate search for a way out, Crichton is aided by a handful of friends and former enemies. He will be outgunned, outmaneuvered and ultimately, he will run out of time. Crichton knows what it is to gamble and lose, but this time he will learn more about sacrifice than any man should know.
